Two people were killed and six wounded during anti-government demonstrations in Haiti.
Anti-riot police fired shots late on Monday, local time, at a jeep carrying government supporters who had been shooting at the crowd of several thousand protesters calling for President Jean Bertrand Aristide to stand down.
One of the victims was shot in the head during crossfire. Details of the second victim are not known.
Prime Minister Yvon Neptune has confirmed the two deaths, however countered opposition claims they were gunned down by authorities.
Several opposition leaders also took part in the march through Port-au-Prince.
There are increasing calls for the president's resignation amid mounting accusations of corruption.
Haiti is the poorest nation in the Americas.
The Haitian government is currently at the centre of a controversy over a student who claimed he was injected with a mystery liquid after being arrested at an anti-government rally last week.
He has been sent to the US for treatment and examination to determine what the liquid was.
